CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL RESUMES

Sunday, September 7 at 10:00 AM

​

As we have done in the last few years, we will combine our children, ages 3 yrs–5th grade. They will meet in the South Lounge and be dismissed during the announcement time in the service. Parents will pick up their children in the classroom following worship. We will continue to use the Sunday school curriculum called “Whirl”. The lessons follow the lectionary text and walk children through Bible stories from the Old Testament into the New. Activities may include a craft, a science experiment or a game in the gym or outdoor courtyard.

YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL RESUMES

Youth, grades 6–12 will meet in the North Lounge, after dismissal from worship. We are trying a new curriculum this year called “Echo: The Story” that walks students through the Bible with fresh and relevant understandings. With the use of our internet and TV media in the North Lounge, we may use visual pieces for lessons to accompany Bible stories and lessons.

WOMEN AT THE WELL

Sunday, September 7 at 11:30 AM

Following worship, we will gather in the North Lounge at 11:30 AM for our first meeting of the year. Our theme this year is “Finding Beauty.” We will enjoy an array of films, documentaries, interviews and lectures that help us connect to discovering beauty in this life. All women are welcome!

MEN’S BREAKFAST AT LANDMARK DINER

SEPTEMBER 11th MANHASSET INTERFAITH

CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL SERVICE

The Manhasset Clergy Association is sponsoring the annual 8 PM 9/11 Interfaith Manhasset Candlelight Memorial Service in Mary Jane Davies Park on Plandome Road. Join us and bring a candle. St. Mary’s is the rain location.

YOUTH CAR WASH

The Youth Car Wash scheduled for Saturday, September 13 has been postponed due to weather. The rain date will be October 4.​

WELCOME BACK SUNDAY & BLESSING OF THE BACKBACKS

Sunday, September 14 at 10:00 AM

On September 14th, youth, children, teachers, coaches and students of life are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church for our annual Blessing of the Backpacks during worship. Lori will give a special message, prayer and blessing. Children will receive a laminated tag to place on or in their backpack. Parents of college students, if you would like Rev. Burgess to send your college kid a tag and a blessing, she is happy to do so! Just give her your student’s mailing address.

WELCOME BACK BRUNCH

On September 14, stick around after worship for our annual Welcome Back Brunch at 11 AM in the Parish Hall. The brunch will include everybody’s favorite omelet and pancake/waffle stations!

HOMEWORK HELP AT ADVENTURES IN LEARNING

Wednesday, September 17 at 3:30-5:15 PM

​

On Wednesday, September 17th, youth will head over to Adventures in Learning to help kids with homework for the afternoon. Rev. Burgess is happy to drive anyone who needs a lift. She will plan to leave Manhasset around 3:30 PM. The afternoon usually ends around 5:15 PM. If students want to meet us over there, that is fine too. Let Rev. Burgess know if your youth can join us by Tuesday, Sept. 16.

YOUTH AND FAMILIES GAME NIGHT

Friday, September 26 6:00-8:00 PM

​

On Friday, September 26th, all youth and families are invited to join us for a game night in the Parish Hall. We will provide a pizza supper. Families should bring a dessert to share. We will have organized group games as well as any requests from the kids for the evening. The event is from 6pm – 8pm and kids and youth of every age are welcome to join us. Let Rev. Burgess know if your family can come by Thursday, September 25th.
